Jocelyn Johnson
Jocelyn Johnson is passionate about helping people recognize their power and developing the civic engagement tools for political and collective action.
Born in Oyen, Alberta and raised in Medicine Hat, Jocelyn is an Albertan to her core. She has experienced firsthand the harmful cuts that Conservative provincial governments have implemented over the years. It's this experience that has driven her to push for progressive change throughout her career.
With over a decade of experience in federal, provincial, and municipal politics, Jocelyn is ready to be the dedicated leader that Medicine Hat—Cardston—Warner needs. With a background in social work, public policy, community organizing, and political activism, Jocelyn is in touch with the needs of her community and is ready to act on them to improve the lives of her neighbours.
A strong advocate for workers' rights, Jocelyn currently works in communications for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and previously worked as the Alberta Representative at the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). She also spent time in Calgary working in community development and in Edmonton working in a crisis shelter for women and children.
Jocelyn is running as your NDP candidate in Medicine Hat—Cardston—Warner for the same reasons she ran in 2021: she wants her community to be able to vote for someone who will truly listen to their needs and work hard to earn (and keep) their trust. Canadians should be able to put faith in their representatives to do what's best for their constituents. Jocelyn is committed to doing her part to making life easier and more affordable for every Canadian – not just those at the very top.
